Investigation of structural importance of Lineaments Using springs location. Case Study: Lar Region
Abstract:   (5635 Views)

Lineament mapping and analysis from Satellites images is an important approach for regional ‎geological and tectonic studies. In this research, the structural importance of lineaments was ‎investigated using spatial distribution of springs in the Lar karstic catchment. Lineament maps ‎were prepared using satellite image processing and enhancement algorithms. Thematic layers, ‎including spatial distribution of springs, drainage network and tectonic elements map were ‎prepared and analyzed using Arc View10 software. The results showed that there was a close ‎relationship between spatial location of springs and distance away from faults, lineaments and ‎drainage with coefficient of determination 0.89, 0.97 and 0.85, respectively. Correlation of ‎lineaments general trend with tectonic elements and also close relationships between tectonic ‎elements length and lineaments with springs location, showed the structural origin of the ‎lineaments. ‎
