Rivers, as primary sources of surface water, play a vital role in providing water for agriculture, industry, and drinking purposes. This study examines changes in the flow health index of the Balighlychay River in Ardabil Province using the Flow Health software. The methodology of this research utilizes the Flow Health software, which estimates river flow health using flow rate and precipitation data. Daily flow rate data were collected from three hydrometric stations: Yamchi, Pol-e Almas, and Gilan Deh. The Flow Health software was then used to calculate flow health results for each station. Additionally, the Mann-Kendall statistical test was employed to analyze trends in the changes. Results from the Flow Health software evaluation of the Balighlychay River indicate that the Yamchi station, with an average flow health index of 0.86, exhibited greater stability and the least variability. In contrast, the Gilan Deh and Pol-e Almas stations, with flow health indices of 0.79 and 0.80, showed more significant changes, likely due to human factors such as dam construction and excessive water extraction. This research emphasizes the need for sustainable water resource management and continuous monitoring of river hydrological health. Consequently, it concludes that the Yamchi station, with a flow health index of 0.86, achieved the highest flow health compared to other stations. Finally, it is recommended that future studies incorporate sediment data and additional parameters to obtain more accurate results in evaluating hydrological flow health.
