Lineament mapping and analysis from Satellites images is an important approach for regional geological and tectonic studies. In this research, the structural importance of lineaments was investigated using spatial distribution of springs in the Lar karstic catchment. Lineament maps were prepared using satellite image processing and enhancement algorithms. Thematic layers, including spatial distribution of springs, drainage network and tectonic elements map were prepared and analyzed using Arc View10 software. The results showed that there was a close relationship between spatial location of springs and distance away from faults, lineaments and drainage with coefficient of determination 0.89, 0.97 and 0.85, respectively. Correlation of lineaments general trend with tectonic elements and also close relationships between tectonic elements length and lineaments with springs location, showed the structural origin of the lineaments. |
